Ruling of Qur'an on Missed Fasts

[Observing Saum (fasts) for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g.an old man, etc.), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskin (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast, it is better for you if only you know.

The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for Mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the months (of Ramadan i.e. is present at his home),he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days, Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you.(He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e.to say Takbir (Allahu-Albar; Allah is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadan and Shawwal] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger Of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The Fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says:  'By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while.'''                                               Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3598

Leadership Lessons From The Quran

Do you remember ever being ridiculed at school or elsewhere during your childhood? Whether the reason for it was your dress, style of talking, or lack of expertise in a certain field or at a particular skill, ridicule by others never feels good. In fact, it feels absolutely awful. The thing about being young is, and this I speak from experience, that one tends to take the mockery, criticism and derision of rivals, envious peers, and openly hostile antagonists (whom the modern literati terms “haters”) too quickly to heart, thinking their harsh words about you to be true. It is at this point, viz. when a child or young adult has their appearance, dreams, efforts, hard work, or abilities mocked and jeered at by others, that the role of the compassionate and sympathetic older mentor, leader, teacher, trainer or parent comes in, to play a crucial ‘rescue’ part: revitalizing the dejected youth’s plunging self-esteem and saving them from giving up on their dreams. It is when any youngster is ...
